Antique Victorian White Cotton Drawers Ladies Underwear
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a wonderful pair of antique “drawers”, a type of underwear used during the 19th century. Drawers are very often open at the crotch to enable hygienic care, but this pair is closed. They are constructed with an opening at either side that does up at the waistline with the aid of a mother of pearl button and corresponding buttonhole. There is also two inside ties that should button together, but the button is missing - you can add a button at the position that is the best fit for you. The fabric is gathered in small tucks under the waistband. The bottom of the legs are trimmed in lace and are appointed with silk ribbon. The fabric is a very fine cotton lawn.
Sizing: These should fit a medium size, but please rely on the following measurements for fit taking the style of the garment into account:
Waist: 27 1/2” around
Hips: 44” around, but meant to be loose
Length: 27 1/2”, measured flat at the bottom of the lace on the leg
Leg inseam: 10”
Condition: It is in very good condition with no wear, tear or stains. The silk ribbon is frayed but, otherwise, the cotton and lace are in great shape.
This is a nice example of Victorian era drawers - great addition to a Victoriana collection!
