1953 Vintage Morning Coat Formal Frock Tails Tailcoat Size M

This is a vintage morning coat that is dated to 1953 on the tailor’s label.  This vintage morning coat is made of a good quality dark charcoal grey wool, almost black.  It has well padded shoulders, peaked lapels, a chest pocket at the left, a single button closure and two buttons at the back.  The sleeves have two buttons. The interior is lined in a satin fabric, perhaps rayon.  No pants are included

Label: Joly Tailors Chaque Vetement Est Fait A La Main Et Sur Mesure (each garment is made by hand and hand tailored).  The customer name appears with the date of May 1953.  Joly was a well established Montreal tailor - I’ve had other clothing made by them, including a tailcoat made for a high placed Quebec politician, and everything was of excellent quality

Sizing: As this was custom tailored, there is no size label and although this vintage morning coat appears to fit a US medium size 38 (short?), please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Shoulders: 17” across seam-to-seam

Sleeves: 24 1/2” long taken from the shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve Inseam: 16” long

Chest: 41” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 38” around

Overall length: 38 1/2“, measured flat at the back from the neck seam

Condition:  This vintage morning coat is in excellent condition with no pronounced wear, tear, soiling, staining or odour - this has been very well preserved
