Vintage 90s Herve Leger Coat Ladies Wool Overcoat Size M

$375.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a beautiful quality coat made by Parisian fashion designer Herve Leger during the 1990s - please read the Herve Leger bio that appears further below.  The coat has beautiful lines, as you would expect from a designer coat.  It has a single button closure at the V shaped neckline that is hidden by the overlap as it buttons on the interior - the coat remains closed by virtue of the overlap and the full cut of the coat. The inset sleeves are cut full with turned cuffs.  The coat is cut with a flare to the hemline, so the coat falls in drapes.  There is a slash pocket built into either side.  The coat is fully lined in black satin.

Label: Herve Leger Paris.  This came from the estate of an affluent woman, definitely authentic

Fabric:  The content label is missing, but I would think that this is a wool and cashmere or other wool blend in black.  Very soft, and definitely a quality fabric.

Sizing: No size is indicated, but the original owner of this coat normally wore a medium size - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the thickness of the wool into consideration:

Shoulders:  17” across seam-to-seam

Sleeves:  25 1/2” long

Sleeve Inseam:  19” long

Bust:  44” around, taken under the arms, with a normal gap at the opening

Waist: 48” around

Length:  53”

Condition: It is in very clean condition with no wear, tear, stains or odours - this looks to have seen little use and was well cared for over the last 25 or so years.

Herve Leger, after a few years in the knitwear business, went to work at Fendi with Karl Lagerfeld in 1980.  When Lagerfeld left Fendi for Chanel, Herve Leger followed him.  In 1985, he began freelancing, working for clients Lanvin, Chloe, Diane von Furstenberg and others.  He started the Herve Leger label in 1993 and sold his business in 1999.

This is a beautiful coat, hard to find coats like this by Herve Leger - wonderful style, sure to be noticed!
