Vintage Pierre Cardin Paris Topcoat Mens 100% Wool Coat Size M

This is a vintage men’s topcoat made in Morocco for Pierre Cardin Paris, mostly likely early 1990s era.  The fabric label reads “100% wool”, but it is especially soft, feels like cashmere.  The fabric is in a thinner, light weight.  It is in a deep tone of navy blue, so dark as to be perceived as black.  The coat has high set notched lapels, a three button front, relaxed shoulders with inset sleeves, four button cuffs, a chest pocket, a flapped pocket at either side and a 20” centre kick vent at the back.  The coat is lined in a blue coloured satin rayon fabric.

Sizing: The coat has a size label that reads 48, but this is, I guess, a French size that normally should be a US size 38, but it appears to be larger than that.  The coat should fit a size medium to large, probably a size 38, maybe a 40, if you want a snug fit.  Please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the coat and the thickness of the fabric into account as well as whether you may want to wear a suit jacket underneath:

Shoulders:  20 1/2” across, from one shoulder/sleeve seam to the other shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves:  26” from the shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam:  17 1/2”

Chest: 42”-43” around 

Waist: 44” around

Hips: 44”-45” around

Length: 47”, measured flat

Condition:  It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odours - the top of the side seam of the chest pocket could use a couple of stitches, although it’s not necessary, and the chain at the interior neck needs to be re-secured on one side (see photos), but these are minor repairs, otherwise the coat is ready for use.
