This is a vintage men’s morning coat dated on the tailor’s label to December 1938.  It is made of an excellent quality black wool - I’ve included extreme close-up photos of the weave, which seems to be arranged in a linear pattern.  It has peaked lapels, a chest pocket at the left, a single button closure, and two buttons at the back.  The interior is lined in a twill fabric, perhaps silk.  No pants are included  

Sizing: This should fit a medium size, perhaps a modern size 38.  Please rely on the following measurements for fit, comparing them to another jacket that you may own or your body measurements, allowing some room for fit:

Shoulders: 18” across seam-to-seam

Sleeves: 24 1/2” long - note that the sleeves appear to have been taken up - there is extra fabric should you wish to elongate the sleeve

Sleeve Inseam: 20” long

Chest: 42” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 39” around

Overall length: 40“ to the bottom at the back

Condition:  It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, holes, nibbles, stains or odours. This morning coat appears to have seen little use and has been very well cared for the last 79+ years.

This is a very nice quality morning coat - beautiful piece for a formal occasion!
