This is a vintage Christian Dior “Le Connaisseur” men’s tux dinner jacket made in a grey colour with black trim - the fabric is woven in a mix of silver grey and black, which gives the appearance of dark or charcoal grey. The “Le Connaisseur” line was introduced in 1985 and was touted by the chairman of Dior as “the top of the Dior line or the luxury of luxuries”.  I believe that the line was discontinued during the early 90s, but I’m not sure.  This jacket does have an ACTWU union label affixed to it, which dates it prior to 1995 as ACTWU merged with another union in 1995 to become “UNITE” - ACTWU was formed in 1976.  The jacket has long shawl lapels in black semi-satin and a single covered black button closure.  It has a black trimmed jetted pocket at either side and a breast pocket - the pocket have velcro that keep them closed flat.  It is fully lined in grey viscose or acetate that is woven throughout with the “CD” logo.

Age: sometime between 1985 and 1995, but most likely dating to the earlier part of that date range

Label: Christian Dior Le Connaisseur Paris New York.  The size/care label states “Made in U.S.A.”.

Fabric:  No fabric label visible, but being Dior Le Connaisseur, I’m sure that it must be wool and silk.

Sizing: The size label reads 48 L, but please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the thickness of the fabric and the cut of the garment into consideration):

Shoulders: 21” across shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves: 25 1/2” from shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve Inseam: 15” long

Chest: 50” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 48”

Overall length: 34“, measured flat

Condition:  This jacket is in excellent condition - it probably was only worn once or twice.  No wear, tear, staining or odour.

This is a great looking dinner jacket made in the U.S.A. at a time before everything was produced in China - super quality as you would expect from this label!
