Vintage 1980s Kenzo Mens Jacket Pink Silk and Wool Size M L Made in France

$175.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a vintage 1980s men’s jacket made in a striking raspberry red colour.  The fabric is a blend of 60% silk and 40% wool, very soft and luxurious, and would have been quite expensive.  The shoulders have large pads, as is typical of 80s fashion, and the silhouette is wide across the top and more fitted at the waist.  The lapels are peaked and the closure is double breasted with a six button configuration.  There is a chest pocket and a flapped pocket at either side of the lower front.  The jacket is lined in a K signature woven copper coloured rayon with a pink undertone.

Age: 1980s

Label: Kenzo Homme.  I beleive that this label was in use from about 1983 until the early-1990s.  Kenzo Takada (b. 1940s) moved to Paris in 1965 after studying fashion and designing in his native Japan for a Tokyo department store.  He opened his first boutique in Paris in 1970 and went on to expand his business through the 70s, 80s and into the 90s, selling his label to LVMH in 1993.

The content label reads “Made in France”

Sizing: European size “50” is indicated, which should correspond to a US size 40, but please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the 80s oversized cut into account:

Shoulders: 22” across, seam-to-seam

Sleeves: 25 1/2” long, from shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 17” long

Chest: 46” around

Waist:  42” around

Hips:46” around

Overall length: 32 1/2“, measured flat

Condition:  It is in very good condition with no wear, tear, holes, stains or odors.  This jacket looks to have seen very little use and to have been well stored over the years.

This is a nice example of 80s era Kenzo design - super quality fabric and great colour!
