This is a wonderful late 1960s era palazzo pant dress.   It features sequinned rick-rack and floral appliqués on tulle net over a heavy pink satin fabric.  It has a high neckline and closes at the back with a nylon zipper.  The pant legs are cut wide.  It has a defined waistline and the sleeves are unlined to create a semi-transparent look. It has its original belt which does up with snaps.

Label: Cassar Haute Couture.  Technically not “haute” couture, but expertly hand sewn by an experienced couturier.  During the 50s and 60s, there were a number of couturiers in Montreal that would serve the city’s social class.  Cassar was a Montreal designer who eventually specialized in wedding and formal wear.
