This is a very nice quality Western hat made under the “Dobbs West” brand name.  The hat is made of fur felt in a beige grey colour.  I believe that the style of the hat is called “Open Trail”.  It has a silver grey grosgrain “thin band” around the base of the crown.  The lining is marked “Dobbs West” and the sweatband is gold stamped “Dobbs West”, with the original owner’s initials “DS” and with “Hand Creased” with a number 3 within a horseshoe.  I’m unsure as to what the number 3 refers to, but I would guess “3X beaver”.  The cardboard label at the back sweatband states that it is a size  “7 1/8”.  It measures 22 1/4” around the sweatband and 7 3/4” by 6 5/8” across the opening.  It is in very good condition with no wear, tear or staining - the only notable issue is that the brim is more turned up on one side than the other - I’m sure that this can be easily corrected.  The hat comes with a Dobbs box, but I don’t think that it is original to the hat and may have contributed to the uneven brim.
