Vintage 1940 Mens Wool Overcoat Black Coat by Supercraft Montreal Size M

This is a mens wool overcoat dated to Jan. 2, 1940 on the tailor’s label.  The coat has high set wide notched lapels and padded square shoulders.  It has a three button front and has a tailored cut.  It has a vertical slant pocket at either side and an 17” centre kick vent at the back.  The sleeves are finished with turned cuffs.  It is lined in black satin fabric.  The wool is very thick and tightly woven with a curvilinear finish.

Sizing: No size is indicated, but this will fit a medium size (38-40, probably more like 40, note chest measurement), depending on preference for fit and whether you will wear a jacket underneath - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the thickness of the wool into consideration):

Shoulders: 18” across shoulder seam-to-seam 

Sleeves: 26 1/2” from shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 18 3/4” long

Chest: 44” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 44” around

Hips:  45” around

Overall length: 44", measured flat

Condition:  This coat is in very good condition - no pronounced wear, tear, soiling or odour.  This has been well cared for and stored over the years.
