Vintage 1930s Ski Suit Laurentian Cloth Canadian Skiing Mens Size M

This is a wonderful late 1930s era ski suit made of brown gabardine wool.  The label reads “Laurentian Cloth” and has illustrations of a downhill skier in the mountains as well as a hunter.  Laurentian Cloth would refer to the Laurentians, a mountain range north of Montreal that was the site of the first ski lift in North America, built in 1931.  By the late 1930s, “snow trains” brought Montrealers and tourists to the area for recreational skiing activities.  This suit consists of the original jacket and pants.  The jacket can button either to the left or right and has a six button configuration along with a button positioned under the right collar should you wish to close off the neck - I’ve posed the jacket both with an open neck and a closed neck (see photos).  It has cuffs that can be adjusted for tightness with two buttons and a diagonal zippered pocket at either side of the chest.  It is lined in a check printed beige coloured fabric.  The pants are made with a pleated front, adjustable side belts for sizing, button down flapped pocket, open side pockets, a button-up fly, belts at the cuffs, loops at the waist for a belt and roomy legs in a shorter length so as to accommodate ski socks.  The pants are lined. 

Sizing: No size is indicated, but this should fit a medium size, about a size 38 with a small pant waist - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the thickness of the fabric and the cut of the suit into consideration):

Chest: 44” around, taken under the arms

Condition:  This suit is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odours - there may be the odd light stain and a slight bit of shininess to the fabric, but really nothing major.  It has been well preserved considering the type of item that it is. 

This is a rare ski outfit - you don’t often see these, great display piece for the ski lodge!
