Vintage 1930s Blue Silk Chiffon Nightgown - M

This is the most gorgeous vintage nightie or nightgown made of a beautiful quality light blue silk chiffon. The style of this dress lends itself to be worn as a dress today, it just requires a simple full length bias cut slip underneath. It has above the elbow length sleeves, with a lot of tucking adding decorative detail to the shoulder area, waistline and sleeve cuff. The piece does up with four mother of pearl buttons down the front of the bodice. The opening is decorated with a pleated jabot flounce that is decorated with embroidery as well as with tucking. The bodice falls in pleats. The nightie cinches with a sash at the waist.

Material: An excellent quality silk chiffon. Beautiful, delicate and soft to the touch, the type of silk that one rarely sees today

Sizing: There is no size label, but this should fit a medium size - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the garment into account:

Shoulders: 18” across, from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves: 12” long

Sleeve inseam: 6”

Bust: 36” around, approximate, as this is meant to fit loosely

Waist: 28”” around

Hips: 36” around, but due to the slight stretch of the material, it might accommodate more

Length: 58”, measured flat

Condition:

It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, splits or odors - one of the loops for the belt is detached at the bottom. Apart from this, there are some light yellow stains, one or two at the back of the skirt and a few more at the hemline (see last close-up photo). I have laundered this and the stains have gotten lighter, but I don’t want to either continue to launder it or aggressively treat the stains due to the fragility of the fabric. The stains do not detract much from this piece as it is quite spectacular. This nightie more than compensates for the small stains.
