This is a fabulous quality vintage wool tweed coat made by Jimmy Hourihan of Dublin.   The piece is made in a “swing” style, with a wide flare to the hemline.  It has dropped shoulders with sleeves that have large faux turned cuffs with elasticized openings.  It has an incorporated hood and there is a large rounded pocket with diagonal cut opening at either side.  The fabric is 100% Irish wool that is woven in a tight, plaid tweed in a medium weight.  It is woven in tones of light blue, deep violet, white and black.  It is fully lined in an eggplant purple coloured rayon.

Label: Made in the Republic of Ireland Boru by Jimmy Hourihan of Dublin.  Jimmy Hourihan has been in business since the late 1950s. They specialize in luxury fabrics, including Irish tweeds from Donegal.  They no longer produce coats like this, so this is a wonderful piece to acquire and treasure.

Content label:  Outer-Shell 100% Pure Wool / Lining 100% Rayon

Sizing: The size label reads 10, but, this may be a UK size, so please note the following measurements for fit:

Shoulders:  19” across, estimated due to dropped shoulder

Sleeves:  22” long from estimated shoulder, 16” from the dropped seam

Sleeve Inseam:  16”

Bust: 52” around, taken under the arms, should be loose

Waist: 60” around, uncinched

Hemline: 78” around

Condition:  It is in very good condition with no wear, tear or stains - there is some minor toning to the lining, really nothing.  Otherwise, this appears not to have seen much use at all and was well cared for and stored over the years.

This is an exceptional coat - super quality, very stylish in a gorgeous plaid!
