Vintage 60s Does 20s Dress Black Ribbon Lace Size M

$85.00

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a wonderful 1960s dress made of black ribbon lace with a salmon red ribbon and bow at the dropped waist.  The dress is made in a style that I call “60s does 20s” - 1920s fashion was very popular during the 1960s as a result of the fashion in the movie “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, released in 1967.  The dress has a to-the-knee length, a scoop neckline, and is sleeveless, cut straight with a dropped waist, as was the style during the flapper era of the 1920s.  The lace is attached to a black acetate fabric slip.  The slip has a nylon zipper down the back and the dress does up the back with five covered buttons and a hook and eye at the back neck.

Label: The only label is the Canadian ILGWU (International Ladies Garment Workers’ Union) that was in use between 1956 and 1968.  This is a manufactured dress.

Sizing: No size is indicated, but this should fit a medium size - please note the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the dress into consideration:

Shoulders: 17“ across

Bust:  38” around, taken under the arm openings

Waist:  32” around the slip - the lace exterior is a little larger

Hips:  37, measured around the salmon red ribbon

Overall length: 40", measured flat

Condition:  This dress is in very good condition with no wear, tear or staining, and just two small issues - the top loop for the corresponding button is missing, but the hook and eye is in the same area, so this doesn’t need to be done up, and the slip hem is undone in one place, so I’ve safety pinned it, an easy repair.  Otherwise, it looks like it saw little use and was well stored over the years.

This is a very cute 60s dress - fun 20s look!
