This coat came from Beverly Hills based designer Ilus Geiger’s family, whose surname was Korda. I’m unsure if they were any relation to the director, however, they were in the film business from what I could make out. The coat is quite fabulous, featuring striking material, and styling that I would characterize as Hollywood glam. The fabric is made of a metallic gold lame base that is woven with diagonal wool stripes in a grey colour with colour accents in violet, orange and white. The coat has a wide rounded collar with wide squared notched lapel. The coat closes with a single gold toned metal closure at the waist level. It is cut with a slight flare and is above the ankle length. It is fully lined in a violet coloured rayon acetate lining.
Label: Ilus Geiger Beverly Hills California. Ilus Geiger is best known as the costume designer for the 1957 film “Cha Cha Cha Boom!”, featuring Perez Prado, Helen Grayco and Sylvia Lewis. Otherwise, I haven’t been able to discover much else about Geiger than he was based in Beverly Hills
Age: most likely 1960s - reminds me a little of mid-60s futuristic space age fashion, except more elegant
