This is a vintage 1980s - 1990s era floral pattern sweater jacket designed by Emanuel Ungaro of Paris. Ungaro became chief designer for Balenciaga in 1960, left for Courreges in 1964 and established his own fashion house on the rue Mac Mahon in 1965.  The Parallele label was Ungaro’s pret-a-porter line, introduced in 1968. 

The shoulders of this sweater jacket are padded and the sleeves are wrist length with single button decorated split cuff.  It has a rounded “jewel” neckline and closes with a zipper up the front - the zipper has a metal cupid   pull (see close-up photo).  There is a pocket at either side of the chest of this sweater jacket - it is fully lined in black polyester. 

Label: Emanuel Ungaro Parallele Paris Made in Italy.  The content label identifies the manufacturer as Gruppo GFT.  Gruppo GFT manufactured for a number of luxury brands including Valentino, Armani, Dior, Montana and Ungaro as well as others.  The Ungaro contract ended in 1998.

Color: Yellow, goldenrod, green, blue and black

Material:  The content label reads 44% acrylic, 36% wool and 20% viscose   

Sizing: Size 12 is indicated on this sweater jacket but please note the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the piece into account:

Shoulders:  17” from one shoulder seam to the other shoulder seam

Sleeves:  24 1/2” long from the shoulder seam

Sleeve inseam:  17 1/2”

Bust: 42” around, taken under the arms

Waist:  40” around

Length:  31”, measured flat

Condition:  This sweater jacket is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odour.  It looks to have seen moderate use and was well cared for over the years
