Vintage 1960s 70s Dress And Hot Pants Miss Style Size M

This is a vintage late 1960s or early 70s era dress and hot pants shorts set.  The dress is sleeveless, has a rounded “jewel” collar, closes with five covered brass coloured plastic buttons at the upper front and is open below the waist, although the opening overlaps somewhat.  The dress cinches at the waist with a matching sash belt.  There is a flapped faux pocket at either upper side front and a built-in pocket at either side.  The hot pants are made in a simple, short style and do up with a nylon zipper at the left side with a button at the waist.  Both pieces of this dress and hot pants set are lined.  

Label: Miss Style..Of Course!  I believe that Miss Style was a Montreal based brand.

Union label:  ILGWU Canadian label used between 1968 and 1984

Age: This dress and hot pants set looks more like 1960s than 70s to me, although hot pants became popular in 1970.  Mary Quant, however, introduced them in 1967, so it is very possible that these are late 60s.  The lack of a CA identification number or French text on the manufacturer’s label indicates that it pre-dates 1973, so because of this and the ILGWU label, this has to date to between 1968 and 1972.

Color:  Blue

Material: Either a wool or wool blend double knit.

Sizing: No size is indicated on this dress and hot pants set, and although this dress and hot pants set should fit a medium size, please note the following measurements for fit:

Dress:

Shoulders:  14 1/2” across the top

Bust: 36”-37” around, taken under the arm openings

Waist:  30” around

Hips:  36”

Length:  39”, measured flat at the back from the neck seam

Pants:

Waist:  26”-27” around

Hips:  37”-38”

Length:  14” at the centre, measured flat

Condition: This dress and hot pants set is in very good condition - one tiny pull at the left front shoulder and some discolouration to purple from blue to the dress lining.  Otherwise, this dress and hot pants outfit presents itself very well and was very well cared for over the years.

This is a fun dress and hot pants set - wonderful period piece, for some reason, hard to find examples like this!
