Vintage 1950s Evening Coat Black Silk Brocatelle Size M / L

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a vintage 1950s evening coat made of a black silk brocatelle fabric that is decorated with a raised floral pattern.  This 1950s evening coat is made in a full cut flared style with inset dolman style sleeves that taper down to the cuff.  The coat has no closures, so the front is meant to stay closed by the overlap of the fabric or to hang slightly open.  It has elongated shawl lapels.  There is a slash pocket at either side and a rhinestone button at either cuff.  The coat is fully lined in white satin.

Label: Fraid’s Montreal - Fraid’s was a clothing store in Montreal, now defunct.

Material: Brocatelle.  Brocatelle is a type of woven brocade with higher raised detail.  It was traditionally made of silk, but now cotton, wool, synthetics or combinations are also used.
