This is a very nice quality cotton or cotton blend knit top made by Yves Saint Laurent as part of the “Variation” line. The top is made in a simple “polo” style with a neckline that closes with a single snap at the neck. The sleeves are cut in a short dolman style with white elasticized cuffs. The collar, bottom and cuffs are made in an elasticized ribbing.
Age: 1980s
Label: Yves Saint Laurent Variation. The Variation line was introduced by Yves Saint Laurent in 1983.
Color: Yellow in a goldenrod tone
Sizing: Size 44 is indicated - this is a French size, which should be equivalent to a US size 14, but please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the garment into consideration:
Shoulders and sleeves: 40” across, from one cuff, over the shoulders, to the other cuff
Bust: 50” around, taken under the arms, large due to dolman cut
Bottom: 28” around, unstretched, stretches out to 34”
Overall length: 23”, measured flat
Condition: It is in very good condition - this top looks to have seen little use and was well stored over the years. It comes from a lot of French designer clothing that I acquired from the estate of a former importer of Parisian labels.
This is a lovely quality top - very 80s!
