This is a vintage ladies’ 2 piece set consisting of a long vest with matching pants.  This set dates to the late 60s/early 70s era and appears to have never been used - both the vest and the pants still have a crisp original cardboard ticket attached to them and usually these tags would be worn out or removed had either piece been used.  The set is made of brown linen - I’m unsure if it is a cotton or blended linen fabric.  As mentioned, the vest is made with a longer silhouette, six button closure grouped in three pairs and a pocket at either lower front side, each decorated with white cording.  It tapers slightly at the waist and then flares out to the bottom.  The pants are unpleated (flat front), made in a quasi-hip hugger style and have a wide leg with lace-up bottoms.  You can get a bit more width by loosening the cording as there is a box pleat inside the cuff - the bottom measures 21” around the hemline.  The belt loops measure 2 3/4” in height, so the pants would accommodate a wide belt.  Both pieces are unlined except for the upper vest.  Note that the white turtleneck in the photos is not included.

Label:  The ticket on each piece reads Made in Canada and has lot and style numbers

Sizing: The pants ticket is printed size 13 with 6 handwritten next to it, while the vest is printed as size 11 - these are vintage sizes, so don’t compare them to today’s sizes. Although this should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please measure similar items that you may own):

Vest:

Shoulders:  13 1/2” across

Bust: 37”

Waist:  34”

Bottom: 48” around

Length: 30”, measured flat

Pants:

Waist: 29” around

Hips:  36”

Leg Inseam: 30 1/2” long

Overall length: 42", measured flat

Condition: This set is in crisp and clean condition with no wear, tear, stains or odours as it was appears to never have been used and was well stored over the years.  There is a loose seam to the top of one side of the left pocket, I’m sure a manufacturing defect, minor, and easy to stitch up if you want to bother.

This is a wonderful example of a 60s/70s outfit - great to find in this condition!
