This is a fabulous woman’s turban style hat made by the fashion house of Schiaparelli in a striking gold and blue metallic lamé.   The hat has great form and style, as we would expect with a Schiaparelli design.  The fabric is of exceptional quality and just glimmers under lighting - this is a real showstopper for anyone making a dramatic entrance!  The opening measures 21 1/2” around, so this hat should fit a small sized head 6 3/4 to 6 7/8.  Please measure your head with a cloth tape measure or take a piece of ribbon, mark where it finishes around the top of your forehead and you can then check by placing the ribbon measurement onto a ruler or yardstick to ensure fit.

 

Age: Early 1960s.  The Morgan’s logo on the label affixed to the sweatband began use during the 1950s and was changed in 1964 to conform more to the style of the Hudson’s Bay logo - Hudson’s Bay had bought Morgan’s in 1960.

It is in excellent condition - this looks to have seen little use and was well stored over the years.
