1960s 70s Vintage Richard Allan Scarf Color Block Silk Twill
$110.00
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a signed vintage Richard Allan scarf made of silk twill. Richard Allan started his business in 1962 and sold over 50,000 silk scarves during his first year in business. His reputation was further enhanced with the endorsement of Diana Rigg, who wore his scarves in the TV series The Avengers. His colourful designs became synonymous with the youthful fashion of Swinging 60s London.
This vintage Richard Allan scarf features a wonderful colour block pattern in various tones of blue and purple. The scarf edge is hand rolled to the back
Age: 1960s, possibly early 1970s. Allan developed Parkinson’s in 1982 and sold his business. His daughter recently relaunched a collection of his original designs, but this is not one of the designs offered, so definitely a collectible vintage Richard Allan scarf
Label: No label, only the signature within the print
Size: 30” by 30 1/2”
Condition: This vintage Richard Allan scarf is in very good condition with no pronounced wear or tear and it is free of stains or odour. There is one pinprick sized fray hole next to the signature where a price barb probably had been. I did not steam or iron the scarf as the original folds were present, so some creasing is evident in the photos. Otherwise, this looks like it saw little, if any, use and was well stored over the years.
This is a quality vintage Richard Allan scarf with a wonderful graphic pattern - excellent collectible piece!
