This is a very nice quality set of tuxedo tails with pants that were made by CP Breare, a tailor located in Skipton, North Yorkshire, England.  The tuxedo tails was made for a very wealthy Scotsman, who had clothing tailored on Savile Row in addition to this suit, so this obviously was made to a high standard.

This tuxedo tails suit is made in classic fashion with a cutaway front and three pairs of buttons at the waist.  The tailcoat has rounded tails that are pleated and have two decorative buttons at the back as well as a 22” centre vent.  It has padded shoulders, grosgrain covered peaked lapels, four buttonhole cuffs and is fully lined.  Note the stitched detail on the interior arm opening, an indication of the quality of the work.  This listing is for the tuxedo tails suit only - no shirt, tie, suspenders or cummerbund.

The pants have a pleated front and a V shaped cutout at the back waist.  They have a button up fly and have buttons for use with suspenders.  There is a double stripe down either leg.

Label: C.P Breare Tailor & Outfitter 12 Sheep St Skipton No Date 26-9-54.  Note that the tails are dated earlier than the pants, which are dated 10-9-54

Color: Black

Material: Wool

Sizing: No size is indicated on this tuxedo tails, as this was made to measure, but this should fit a medium size, probably a coat size 38.  Please note the following measurements for fit:

Tails:

Shoulders: 18 1/2” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves:  23” long from the shoulder seam, 33” from the mid-neck, over the shoulder, and to the cuff edge

Sleeve inseam:  16”, taken under the arms

Chest:  40” around

Overall length: 40 1/2", taken at the back, measured flat from the neck seam

Pants:

Waist:  35” around

Length:  44”

Leg inseam:  29 1/2”

Condition:  This tuxedo tails is in very good condition with no wear, tear, staining or odours.  The only issues are that although there are four buttonholes at either cuff, there are only two buttons present at the left cuff and three buttons at the right cuff.  In addition, the seam is slightly pull at the back waist cutaway, really minor, just needs a couple of reinforcing stitches.  The left armpit lining could also use 2 or 3 stitches.  This tuxedo tails suit was well cared for over the years.

This is a very nice quality tuxedo tails suit as one would expect from a person of a means - they don’t make quality tuxedo tails like this anymore!
