This is a wonderful 1940s era mens blue blazer jacket that has a McGill University crest on its pocket.  The blue blazer was made by a Montreal tailor and is dated 1949.  The fabric is made of navy blue wool.  It has padded shoulders, peaked lapels and closes with two brass buttons, part of a four button double breasted configuration.  There are patch pockets applied at either side and to the left chest.  There are two similar buttons at either cuff.   This blue blazer is half lined in a blue satin striped fabric.  It has a pocket built into the interior right and left sides.

Label: Joly Montreal

Sizing: No size is indicated on this blue blazer, but this should fit a medium size, probably a US size 38 - please rely on the following measurements for fit (compare measurements with a similar jacket that you presently own or to your own body measurements, taking the cut of the blue blazer into account):

Shoulders: 19” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves: 26” from the shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve inseam: 18”

Chest:  41” around, taken under the arms

Waist:  38” around

Overall length:  31”, measured flat

Condition:  This blue blazer does have some condition problems - the buttons were moved over, leaving evidence of their previous placement (see last close-up photo).  There is some wear to the brass buttons. In addition, there is a small tear coming off the seam at the back left sleeve and a tiny wear spot at the opening edge near a buttonhole, very minor.  Finally, there is a bit of wear to the lining at the interior pocket and a bit at the partially missing neck loop, again, quite minor as well as some purplish discolouration to the lining at the right side.

This is a good looking vintage blue blazer, that with a bit of work, would look great due to its wonderful style.  Worth the price, just for the vintage McGill crest!
