This is a rare vintage 1940s era ladies’ ski jacket, made in a relaxed shirt style.  This jacket, perhaps, was meant more for cross country skiing or snowshoeing.  It is made of black twill wool gabardine.  The jacket has padded squared shoulders, shirt type pointy collar, chest pockets with double button flaps and button down cuffs.  The collar and pockets have decorative seams.  The waist is seamed at the sides and the back so as to give the piece some shape.  It closes with a Lightning brand brass metal zipper down the front. The jacket is unlined.

Label: Peacock Sportswear Trade Mark Reg. Designed by Martin

Sizing: There is no size label, and although this should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the jacket and the thickness of the fabric into consideration:

Shoulders:  16” across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam

Sleeves:  22 3/4” from shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam:  18 1/2”

Bust:  36” around

Waist:  34” around

Bottom:  38” around

Overall length:  24”, measured flat

Condition:  It is in very good condition - no wear, tear or staining.  The bottom, however, is serrated, almost as if it was never hemmed - I assume that it is like this because the jacket is supposed to be tucked into pant.

This is a wonderful vintage ski jacket - really rare to find 1940s examples, especially unusual ones like this, in this clean condition!
