This is a pair of vintage tuxedo tails / formal tailcoat dating to the 1930s or 40s.  These vintage tuxedo tails are made in a classic form with padded shoulders, no closure, cut away front with six buttons, two buttons at the back and four buttons at either cuff.  The lapels are wide and peaked and finished in black satin.  It is fully lined in black satin fabric.  Note that there are no pants included, only the vintage tuxedo tails.
Fabric:  Fine quality wool
Label:  Jack Ellis Tailored Clothes Montreal.  Jack Ellis appears to have started business on Clark Ave in 1935.  After moving to Drummond St, Wilson Ave and then Mountain St., he appears to have ceased operating in 1959.  The label on these tails looks very deco to me, so, combined with the extreme lapels, I’m thinking 1930s or 40s era
Sizing: There is no size label as these were custom made, and although these vintage tuxedo tails should fit a medium size (US size 38/40), please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 20” across shoulder seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 25 1/2” from the shoulder seam
Sleeve Inseam: 17 1/2” long
Chest: 42” around, taken under the arms with a normal gap, 21” across pit-to-pit
Waist: 40” around
Overall length: 45 1/2“ at the back, measured flat from the neck seam
Condition: These vintage tuxedo tails are in excellent condition with no pronounced wear, tear, soiling, staining or odour.  The lapels could maybe use a professional pressing (do not attempt yourself)
This is a wonderful pair of vintage tuxedo tails in great condition - nice 1930s 40s style!
