Art Deco Gauntlet Gloves Ladies Size M Vintage 1930s Unused
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a wonderful pair of vintage gloves dating to the 1930s. They are made in a “gauntlet” style with the bottom made of cotton “lace” and the hand portion made of either rayon or silk, I’m unsure of which. The hand is beige or ecru colored. The gloves are still attached to each other with red thread. Although never having been used, somehow the first finger of the right hand glove became stained at the tip (see close-up photo) and the left hand glove has a small stain under the base of the thumb (see close-up photo) - there also are two teeny tiny marks at the base of the right hand glove thumb, very minor. I have not tried to remove the stains - probably with the right cleaner these would come out, but there are no guarantees. The lace is made of rectangular shapes on a stiff netting, rather art deco in conception. The gloves measure 13” in length from the middle finger to the bottom of the glove. These would fit a medium hand, about a size 7, but extreme care should be taken when putting these on - do not pull on the lace, but rather insert your hand and gradually work the glove onto the hand. I believe that these date to the early 1930s, but it is possible that they date to the late 1920s.
This is a wonderful pair of 1920s / 1930s era gloves - rare to find unused like this....
