The mottled, lustrous colouration varies from bead to bead and gives the necklace wonderful depth and character. It consists of an oval faceted \u003cb\u003esaphiret glass stone\u003c\/b\u003e mounted in a brass setting. The stone displays the characteristic shifting brown, blue and mauve tones associated with saphiret glass.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe reverse of the clasp is impressed with a partially legible country-of-origin mark. It appears to read Czechoslovakia, although some of the lettering is indistinct.
