Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a rather unique vintage silk tie featuring an interesting hand made construction.  The tie was made by folding the silk fabric over and then stitching the edge with X shaped yellow stitches.  The retailer’s label reads “Stanley 38, Boulevard des Moulins, Monte-Carlo” while the maker’s label inside the fold reads “Leo Gret Soie Silk Made in France”.  The lining is also woven with “Leo Gret Made in France”.  This silk tie is made in a navy blue colour with raised gold toned yellow geometric patterning.  The tie measures 2 3/4” in width and 52” in length.  It is difficult to date because it is so unique, but it came from a collection of ties that dated to the 1970s and 80s.  I noted that Stanley registered as an exporter in 1991, but that doesn’t mean that it didn’t exist prior to that.  I haven’t found anything on Leo Gret.  This silk tie is in very good condition with no wear, tear, stains or odours - this is ready to wear.  This silk tie is of obvious quality - Monte Carlo is the playground of the rich, so this tie must have been very expensive!
