This is an unused knit top made in France under the Miss Dior label, dating to the early 70s.  This came from a lot of old store stock from the 1960s and 70s that I acquired about five years ago, some with tags and some without - included in the lot were a number of pieces by Christian Dior, but also other French fashion houses, all of it unused.  This top is knit with vertical striping in blue against a cream background.  The top has a V shaped neckline, pointy collar, short sleeves and with turned cuffs.  The neckline, collar and bottom are all ribbed in the solid blue colour.  The top is unlined and simply goes over the head.

Label: Miss Dior Modéle Exportation. The Miss Dior line was introduced in 1967 as a ready-to-wear line targeted to a younger clientele.  The line was designed by Philippe Guibourgé, who worked with Jacques Fath and Antonio del Castillo at Lanvin before becoming assistant to Marc Bohan at Dior.  He left Dior in 1978 to launch the ready-to-wear line for the house of Chanel.  Miss Dior was made in France for the domestic market until December of 1970, when they started to export to North America.  The “Modéle Exportation” identifies this top as one of those items that would have been exported.

Fabric:  The material label is missing, but this is some type of synthetic blended knit

Sizing: Size M for medium is indicated, but please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Shoulders:  13” across, but the fabric has a bit of stretch, at least to 14” and the top of the arm would extend into the sleeve top

Bust:  32” around, but easily stretches out to 35”

Bottom: 28”, stretches out to 34”

Length: 23”, measured flat

Condition:  This is in excellent condition as it is unused and was well stored for over the years.

This is French made Dior - wonderful 70s style, almost contemporary looking!
