This is a wonderful designer vintage 1970s era peasant look silver and black check and linear lame blouse & skirt ensemble made in France by Yves Saint Laurent Paris. The set came from an estate where there were hundreds of pieces of Parisian designer clothing, much of it unused. This ensemble looks to me to be an "opulent peasant" look - Saint Laurent introduced the peasant look in 1976. The blouse has a Russian look to the neckline, accented in black velvet and buttoning on the side. The sleeves are roomy at the upper arm and cinched at the cuff with, again, in black velvet. The blouse is made with some length, but I have posed it tucked into the skirt. There is a matching sash that I've used at the waistline. The skirt is long and accented with ruffles. The blouse is checked while the skirt has alternating silver and black horizontal stripes with the ruffles/flounces on the skirt being checked. The fabric is quite glittery - this is a wonderful holiday season ensemble.
